Print All Files in a Google Drive Folder

When you need printed copies of everything in a Google Drive folder, the one-file-at-a-time approach does not scale. The Docs to PDF extension lets you open a folder, select all files with Ctrl+A, convert them to PDF in one batch, and print the results. No opening each document, no repeating the print dialog, no wasted time.

1

How to print an entire folder

Navigate to the folder in Google Drive. Press Ctrl+A (Windows) or Cmd+A (Mac) to select all files. Click the Docs to PDF extension icon in Chrome. The extension converts every Google Doc, Sheet, and Slides file to PDF and downloads them to your computer. Once the PDFs are downloaded, select them all in your file manager and print. On Windows, right-click the selected PDFs and choose Print. On Mac, open them all in Preview, select all pages, and print.

2

Which file types get converted

The extension converts Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. Uploaded files that are not in Google format, such as Word documents, Excel files, or images, are skipped without errors. If you have a mixed folder, the extension processes the compatible files and leaves the rest. You do not need to clean the folder before running the batch.

3

Printing vs downloading: what is different

Converting to PDF first gives you a fixed-layout file that prints the same way every time, regardless of browser settings or printer drivers. Printing directly from Google Drive in a browser tab can produce inconsistent page breaks or margin shifts. The PDF step removes that variability. The output quality is also identical to what you would get from File > Download > PDF in each individual document, because the extension uses the same Google export endpoint.

4

Large folders and batch management

For folders with many files, the extension processes them in sequence. A folder with 30 documents takes a few minutes to convert. Keep Chrome open and the Drive tab active during the batch. For very large folders, consider selecting files in groups of 25 to 50 rather than all at once. This makes it easier to track progress and identify any files that failed to convert.

5

Shared folders work the same way

The process is identical for shared folders and team drives. You need at least Viewer access to each file. If a file owner has restricted downloading, that file will fail during the batch and the rest will continue normally. Everything else in the folder exports and prints as expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I print all files in a Google Drive folder at once?

Yes. Open the folder, select all files with Ctrl+A or Cmd+A, and run the Docs to PDF extension. It converts every compatible file to PDF. Then select all PDFs in your downloads folder and print them together.

Does the extension print directly, or do I need to print the PDFs separately?

The extension converts files to PDF and downloads them. You then print the PDFs using your operating system's print function. On Windows, right-click and choose Print. On Mac, use Preview to print multiple PDFs at once.

What if the folder has subfolders?

The extension only converts files in the folder view you have open. It does not recurse into subfolders. Open each subfolder separately and repeat the process for the files inside.

Will formatting look right when printed?

Yes. The PDF conversion uses Google's own rendering engine, so fonts, tables, images, headers, and footers all appear exactly as they do in the Google Doc. The PDF is a fixed-layout format, so printing is consistent across different printers.

Can I print a shared Google Drive folder I do not own?

Yes, as long as you have Viewer access or higher. Files with download restrictions set by the owner will fail; everything else converts and prints normally.
