Information We Collect

We may collect the following information when you use Docs to PDF:

• Account Information: When you register or sign in (e.g., via Google OAuth), we may access basic Google user data such as your name and email address, depending on the permissions you grant.
• Usage Data: We collect data about how you interact with our service (e.g., feature usage statistics) to improve functionality.
• Document Metadata: During the conversion process, we may process metadata associated with your documents (e.g., file names or types), but we do not access or store the content of your files unless explicitly required for conversion.

If you sign in using Google, we only access the Google user data you authorize us to access via the OAuth consent screen, and this is limited to what is necessary to provide our service.

How We Use Your Information

We only use the information you provide, including Google user data, to:

• Respond to your inquiries or support requests.
• Process payments for the premium version.
• Improve the functionality and user experience of the Docs to PDF plugin.
• Authenticate your identity when you sign in using Google.
• Send you emails about your account and, unless you unsubscribe, occasional product tips and offers (see below).

We do not use Google user data for any purposes other than providing or improving our application's functionality, as required by Google's policies.

Emails We Send

We use the email address of your account for two kinds of email:

• Account and billing emails, such as your welcome email, payment receipts and notices about a failed payment. These are part of running your account.
• Occasional product tips about Docs to PDF, such as how to use a feature or what changed, a reminder if you leave a checkout unfinished, and occasional offers, such as a discount on a paid plan. Every one of these has an unsubscribe link, and you can stop them at any time.

We never sell your email address or use it to advertise anything other than Docs to PDF.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or trade your personal information, including Google user data, with third parties, except:

• Payment Processors (Stripe): To complete transactions for the premium version. Stripe processes payment information securely and does not share it with us.
• Service Providers: We may share limited data with providers who assist us in operating the plugin or website (e.g., hosting, analytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and comply with applicable privacy laws.

We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for purposes like advertising, data brokering, or any use unrelated to our service.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect any information you provide to us, including Google user data. Since the plugin operates locally in your browser, we do not store or process your document contents on our servers. Payment information is securely handled by our payment processor (Stripe) and is not stored by us. We use encryption and other security procedures to safeguard sensitive data, such as your account information, during transmission and storage.

Free PDF Tools on Our Website

Our free browser tools (Merge PDF, JPG to PDF, Split PDF and OCR, listed at docs-to-pdf.com/tools) process your files on your own device, in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to Docs to PDF or anyone else, and you don't need an account to use them. The tools only download their own program code from docs-to-pdf.com; the OCR tool also downloads its text-recognition program and language data from docs-to-pdf.com the first time you use it. The text OCR finds stays in your browser.

To see how the tools are used, we record counts only: for example how many files and pages a job had, the file types, a rough size range, how long it took, and fixed error codes when something fails. If you are signed in, these counts are linked to your account like the rest of your usage data. We never record file names, file contents or the text in your documents. These pages don't load session recording, a tag manager or a chat widget; they use a cookieless page-view counter.

Our Other Extensions

Besides the Docs to PDF extension for Google Drive, Docs to PDF makes the browser extensions below. They all use the same Docs to PDF account and conversions balance, and everything in this policy applies to them too. An account is only needed for the paid features; we then hold the account details described under "Information We Collect" above (your email address and name).

AI Chat to PDF

• It reads the AI chat you have open (on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity) only when you click Export, and turns it into a PDF, Word or Markdown file inside your browser.
• Your chats are never sent to Docs to PDF and never stored by us. Chats you add to a pack are kept in the extension's storage on your device until you clear the pack, and for 30 days at most.
• It does not use the chat sites' private interfaces and never opens or exports chats in the background.

Email to PDF for Gmail

• It reads an email conversation and its attachments only when you click Save as PDF, only for the conversations you opened or ticked, and only inside your browser.
• Your emails and attachments are never sent to Docs to PDF, never stored by us, and never used for advertising or to train any model. When you download the PDF, nothing is kept in the extension afterwards. When you choose Save to Drive, the finished file waits in the extension's storage on your device until the docs-to-pdf.com page picks it up (see below).
• It does not use the Gmail API and does not ask Google for access to your mailbox. Confidential-mode emails are skipped.
• Save to Drive sends the file from your browser straight to your own Google Drive (see "Saving to Google Docs and Google Drive" below).

Clean Page to PDF (web pages and YouTube transcripts)

• It reads the page you are on only when you click its button, and turns it into a clean PDF, printout or Word file inside your browser.
• On YouTube it reads the transcript YouTube shows for the video you are watching. It never downloads the video or its audio.
• Articles you add to a reading packet are kept in the extension's storage on your device until you clear the packet. Pages and transcripts are never sent to Docs to PDF.

What these extensions send us

To count conversions and see how the tools are used, the extensions send us counts and fixed codes: for example that an export of 3 chats to PDF worked, how many pages it had, or a fixed error code when something failed, together with the extension's version number. When you install an extension, it also sends your browser's language setting and its user agent (the browser's name and version and your operating system), and we note the country your connection comes from, which our hosting provider derives from the request. Each install has a random identifier that is linked to your account once you sign in. We never receive chat or email text, subjects, titles, email addresses, web addresses, file names or attachment names.

Saving to Google Docs and Google Drive

When you save a chat, email or page to Google Docs or Google Drive from one of our extensions, the extension opens a page on docs-to-pdf.com (docs-to-pdf.com/to-docs). That page:

• receives the file from the extension inside your browser, through a one-time link that works once and expires after 10 minutes. Until the page picks it up, the file waits in the extension's storage on your device. A file that isn't picked up in time can no longer be fetched, and the extension deletes it the next time it starts or saves another file;
• asks Google, when you click save, for the drive.file permission, which only lets Docs to PDF create and open the files it makes, not see the rest of your Drive;
• uploads the file from your browser straight to your Google Drive (Word files are turned into Google Docs; PDFs and ZIP files go into a "Docs to PDF" folder).

The file and Google's access token never reach our servers. This page loads no analytics, session recording or chat widget; it only records fixed error codes when a save fails. Docs to PDF's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Font Downloads

To put Chinese, Japanese or Korean text in a PDF, our extensions download a font file from docs-to-pdf.com the first time they need it, check it against a fingerprint built into the extension, and keep it on your device. This is an ordinary file download: it carries no account information and nothing about your document, and the font is the same for everyone.

Drive Tools

Our Drive tools (Mail merge to PDF and Rename Drive files) work on the Google files you pick with Google's file picker, using the drive.file permission.

• Data from the Sheets and Forms you pick (such as names, grades or email addresses in the rows) is read in your browser and never sent to our servers, logs or analytics.
• To fill a template, the tool creates temporary copies in your Drive and deletes them when the job is done. It only ever deletes files it created itself.
• Renaming changes the names of the files you pick, after you have seen every new name, and can be undone in the same browser.
• If you choose "Add to Google Drive", the drive.install permission adds Docs to PDF to the "Open with" menu in Google Drive. It gives no access to your files.
• We record counts and fixed codes only, such as how many documents a mail merge made, never file names, column names or cell values.

Cookies and Tracking

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to analyze traffic and improve user experience. You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer.

Premium Version

If you purchase the premium version, you will have access to additional features. Payment information is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor, and we do not store this data.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information, including Google user data, only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. Specifically:

• Account Information: Retained while your account is active or as needed to provide support. If you delete your account, we will remove your data within 30 days unless a longer retention period is legally required.
• Usage Data: Retained in an anonymized form for up to 12 months to analyze trends and improve our service.
• Document Metadata: Deleted immediately after the conversion process is complete, as we do not store this data on our servers.

You may request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at corbihael@gmail.com. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm when the deletion is complete, except where we are legally obligated to retain certain information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the updated date. If we make significant changes to how we handle Google user data, we will notify you via email or through the app interface.
