Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The images are turned into a PDF by your browser, on your device. Your files are never sent to Docs to PDF or anyone else. We only record counts, such as how many files and pages a job had, never file names or contents.
Which image formats work?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (the first frame) and BMP. HEIC photos from an iPhone work where the browser can open them, which today means Safari. In other browsers, save them as JPG first.
Will sideways phone photos come out right?
Yes. Cameras store the rotation in the photo instead of turning the pixels. The tool reads it and places every photo upright. You can also turn any image by 90° before converting.
Is image quality reduced?
No. JPG photos go into the PDF exactly as they are, without being compressed again, and PNGs stay lossless. Only the optional "Reduce file size" setting shrinks large photos.
Which page size should I pick?
A4 or Letter for printing (Letter is the default in the US and Canada), or "Fit to image" to make each page the size of its image. Orientation can follow each image automatically.
Is there a size limit?
Up to 200 images and 300 MB at once on a computer, and 60 images and 100 MB on phones and devices with little memory. The limits keep your browser from running out of memory; they're not a paywall.
Is it really free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. The work runs on your own device, so it costs us nothing and doesn't use any of your Docs to PDF conversions.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. On a phone you can pick photos straight from your photo library.
What do paid plans add?
Page numbers on every page. They come with every paid Docs to PDF plan. Converting stays free.
