What does Docs to PDF do?
Docs to PDF is a Chrome extension that adds an Export to PDF button to Google Drive and Google Docs. Select one document or a whole batch, merge them into one PDF if you like, add a password, and the PDFs are saved back to your Google Drive. If you can't install extensions, the online converter on this site does the same conversion in any browser.
Which files can I convert?
The extension converts Google Docs and Word (.docx) files stored in Drive, plus Gemini conversations saved to Drive. Google Sheets and Slides work in the online converter, which can also export Docs to Word, RTF or plain text. Open the online converter →
Can I convert Google Sheets and Slides?
Yes, with the online converter: pick the spreadsheets or presentations from your Drive and download them as PDF, merged into one file or as a ZIP. The Chrome extension handles Google Docs and Word files today. Convert Sheets and Slides online →
How do I convert my documents?
Open Google Drive, select one or more documents and click the Export to PDF button that appears. Inside an open Google Doc there is an Export to PDF button next to the title. For whole folders, open the Docs to PDF side panel in Drive, pick the folder and choose your options.
Where are my PDFs saved?
In Google Drive: next to the original, in a folder you pick, or in a new folder you name. The online converter downloads the PDFs to your computer instead.
What counts as one conversion?
Each document you convert is one conversion. Merging 10 documents into one PDF uses 10 conversions. The extension and the online converter share the same balance.
Do my 25 free conversions refill?
No. Every account gets 25 free conversions once, and they don't reset. Paid plans give you a new allowance every month: Personal 50, Pro 500, Business 5,000. Yearly plans refill monthly too. Unused plan conversions don't roll over.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. On your account page, click Manage subscription to open the Stripe billing portal and cancel there. You keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for.
Does it work with school or work Google accounts?
Yes, as long as your Google Workspace admin allows it. If you see "Blocked by your Google Workspace admin", ask your IT team to allow the Docs to PDF extension (ID ddfhbmfbceegjhnemjjcneffnajdehal). It only asks for Google's drive.file permission, which covers the files you pick and nothing else.
Does it work in Microsoft Edge or Brave?
The extension signs in through Chrome's built-in Google sign-in, which Edge and Brave don't offer to extensions, so it can't connect there. Use the online converter instead: it works in every browser with the same account.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Docs to PDF uses Google's drive.file permission, so it can only open files you pick, not the rest of your Drive. Google's own export does the conversion, and your document contents never pass through our servers.
Does it work offline?
No. Docs to PDF needs an internet connection, because Google's servers do the PDF conversion.
