Email a Google Doc PDF Automatically with Make
A Make scenario can convert a Google Doc to PDF and attach it to an outgoing email in the same workflow. This removes the manual export and attach steps from recurring email workflows.
Adding the Gmail or SMTP module
After the PDF conversion step, add a Gmail 'Send an Email' module or use Make's built-in Email module for SMTP sending. Map the PDF data from the conversion step to the attachments field. Configure the recipient, subject, and body.
Dynamic recipients
Map the recipient address from the scenario data. If the trigger is a form submission, the recipient might come from the form data. If the trigger is a Drive file, map the recipient from a Google Sheet lookup based on the file name or folder.
Email content
Write the email subject and body in the Gmail module using Make's text formatting. Reference the document name, the current date, and any other relevant data from earlier modules. A clear, concise email body helps recipients understand what they received.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Make send the email from a different email address?
If you use the Gmail module, emails come from the Google account you connected. To send from a different address, configure a send-as alias in Gmail and select it in the module settings.
