Convert Only Specific File Types from a Drive Folder to PDF
A folder often contains a mix of Docs, Sheets, and Slides, but sometimes you only need PDFs of one type. Instead of converting everything, filter the folder view in Google Drive to show only the file type you want, then select and export just those files.
Filtering by file type in Google Drive
In Google Drive, use the search bar and filter by type. Click the search bar, click 'Type', and select 'Google Sheets', 'Google Docs', or 'Google Slides'. Then navigate to your folder within the search results. Select the files you want and run the extension.
Alternative: sort by file type
In list view, click the 'Type' column header to sort by file type. This groups Docs, Sheets, and Slides separately. You can then use Shift+click to select a block of files of the same type and run the export on just that group.
Why this matters
If you are collecting data from Sheets for a finance report but do not need the related Docs exported, filtering to Sheets only keeps your output clean and avoids cluttering your downloads with files you did not want.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the extension filter by file type automatically?
The extension processes whatever you have selected and skips non-convertible types. For type-specific exports, filter the Drive view first and then select.
What if Docs and Sheets are mixed in the selection?
The extension converts both. If you only want one type, deselect the other type before running the extension.
