Export Google Doc as PDF Without Header and Footer

Exporting without a header or footer requires removing them from the Google Doc before running the export. The extension does not add or remove headers and footers independently. What is in the document is what appears in the PDF.

Remove the header before exporting

In Google Docs, double-click the header area to enter it. Select all the content in the header and delete it. Then click outside the header to return to the main document. Do the same for the footer. When you export, the PDF will have no header or footer content.

Hiding headers for specific pages

Google Docs supports different headers and footers for the first page. If you only want to remove the header from the first page, go to Insert > Headers and Footers > Header, and check 'Different first page'. Leave the first-page header empty while keeping the rest.

Using section breaks for more control

If you only want to remove headers from specific sections of the document, insert section breaks and configure each section independently. This is useful for documents that combine title pages with body content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the extension strip headers and footers from the PDF automatically?

No. The extension exports the document as it appears in the editor. To remove headers and footers from the PDF, remove them from the Google Doc first.

If I remove the header to export, do I lose it permanently?

Only if you save after deleting. Use Ctrl+Z to undo the deletion after exporting to restore the header in the Google Doc.
