Export Google Doc to PDF Without Opening It
Exporting without opening is the fastest path when you need a PDF from a document you do not need to review. Select the file in Google Drive, click the extension icon, and the PDF is ready without the document ever loading in a tab.
Select the file in Drive
In Google Drive, click once on the Google Doc to select it. A blue checkbox appears next to the file. Then click the Docs to PDF extension icon in your Chrome toolbar. The extension reads the selected file's ID, calls the export API, and downloads the PDF.
Why this is faster for batches
Opening twenty documents to export them one by one means twenty tabs loading, twenty menus to navigate, and twenty dialogs to dismiss. Selecting them in Drive and running the extension once skips all of that. The extension handles the file loading internally.
What you cannot control without opening
When exporting without opening, you cannot choose page ranges, adjust print settings, or check for formatting issues before the export runs. For documents where you need to verify the output, opening the file first is worth the extra step.
