Export Google Docs as PDF from Google Drive
Exporting from Drive lets you skip opening documents entirely. Select the files you need, click the extension icon, and the PDFs are exported in sequence. This works for single files and for multi-file batches.
Using the Drive interface for exports
Switch Google Drive to list view for the easiest file selection. Click the checkbox next to each document you want to export. For all files in a folder, press Ctrl+A or Cmd+A. Once your selection is ready, click the Docs to PDF extension icon.
Exporting from a shared drive
The process works the same in shared drives as in your personal Drive. Open the shared drive, navigate to the relevant folder, select the files, and run the extension. Permission requirements are the same: at least Viewer access is needed.
Where the PDFs land
All exported PDFs download to your local browser downloads folder. They are not automatically saved back to Drive. If you want them in a specific Drive folder, upload them after the export.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I export Google Docs from Drive without installing any software?
The Docs to PDF extension is a Chrome extension, not installed software. It takes about 30 seconds to add to Chrome from the Web Store.
Can I export from My Drive and a shared drive in the same batch?
No. Google Drive only allows selecting files within a single folder view at a time. Run the extension once per folder.
