Merge Question and Answer Documents

A question-and-answer format where each question page is immediately followed by its answer page is useful for study guides, training assessments, and interview preparation materials. Alternating merge creates this format automatically.

Setting up the documents

Create a questions Google Doc where each page contains one question or question set. Create a matching answers Doc where each page contains the corresponding answers. Ensure both documents have the same number of pages with matching page positions.

Running the alternating merge

Select both documents in Drive. Open the extension in alternating merge mode with the questions document first. The merged PDF shows question page 1, answer page 1, question page 2, answer page 2, and so on. Students or trainees can read the question, turn the page, and see the answer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if some questions have longer answers that span multiple pages?

For consistent alternating structure, each question-answer pair needs to fit on exactly one page from each document. For longer answers, either compress the content or accept that those pairs will span multiple interleaved page sets.
