Save Google Doc as PDF on Android

The most direct method on Android is through the Google Docs app. Open the document, tap the three-dot menu in the top right, select Share and Export, then Save as PDF. The app exports the document using Google's rendering engine and downloads the PDF to your device. The file typically lands in your Downloads folder.

The Drive app on Android also supports PDF export without opening the document. In your Drive file list, tap the three-dot icon next to the document name and select Send a copy. Choose PDF as the format. The share sheet opens with the PDF attached. Tap Save to device or save it to Drive.

Android's built-in print system supports saving to PDF. Open the document in the Docs app, tap the three-dot menu > Print. In the print dialog, change the destination printer to Save as PDF. Tap the PDF icon to save. This method uses the Docs app's print renderer, which is generally consistent with the export API.

PDFs exported from the Docs app go to the Downloads folder on internal storage by default. Some versions of the app prompt you to choose a location. After saving, you can find the file in the Files app or any file manager app.

The Docs to PDF Chrome extension is a desktop browser extension. It does not run on Chrome for Android as a mobile extension. Use the Docs app or Drive app methods described here for Android. The desktop extension is available for Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Chromebook.
