Fix Docs to PDF Extension Not Responding

The Docs to PDF extension not responding to clicks usually means the extension process has crashed, needs reloading, or a Chrome update has disrupted it. Here is how to get it working again.

Reload the extension

Go to chrome://extensions in your browser address bar. Find the Docs to PDF extension. Click the reload icon (circular arrow) if visible, or toggle the extension off and back on using the switch. Then go back to Google Drive and try clicking the extension icon again.

Unpin and repin the extension

Click the puzzle piece icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the extensions panel. Find Docs to PDF and unpin it by clicking the pin icon so it disappears from the toolbar. Then repin it. This refreshes the toolbar button and often fixes unresponsive icons.

Check for Chrome updates

Go to chrome://settings/help to check for Chrome updates. A pending Chrome update can cause extension conflicts. Install any available updates, restart Chrome, and try the extension again.

Check for extension conflicts

Other Chrome extensions can conflict with Docs to PDF, especially ad blockers, privacy extensions, and other download managers. Temporarily disable other extensions by going to chrome://extensions and toggling them off one at a time. If the extension starts working when a specific other extension is disabled, that is the conflict.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the extension popup open but nothing happens when I click Convert?

The extension may not be detecting the selected files in Google Drive. Make sure you have at least one Google Doc selected in Google Drive (with the checkbox visible) before clicking Convert. The extension needs an active selection to work.
