Convert to PDF and Save to Drive Folder with Zapier
Converting to PDF is most useful when the output ends up somewhere organized. This Zapier pattern converts a Google Doc and saves the PDF to a target Drive folder automatically.
Adding the upload step
After the conversion step in your zap, add a Google Drive action and select 'Upload File'. Map the PDF file data from the conversion step to the file field. Set the destination folder ID to your target folder. The PDF is uploaded to that folder each time the zap runs.
Organizing by date or project
Use Zapier's Formatter step to build a folder path dynamically. For example, combine a project name from the filename with a date to create a path like '/Reports/2026-03/'. Create the folder first using Google Drive's 'Create Folder' action if it does not already exist.
Naming the saved file
Use the Formatter step to build a filename that includes the original document name, the current date, or any other available data. Consistent naming makes it easier to find files later without opening each one.
