Post Google Doc PDFs to Slack Automatically with Zapier
Slack is where many teams review and discuss documents. A Zapier zap that converts a Google Doc to PDF and posts it to the right Slack channel closes the gap between document creation and team visibility.
Connecting the Slack action
After the PDF conversion step, add a Slack action and choose 'Send Channel Message' or 'Send Direct Message'. To attach the PDF, use the 'Upload File' action instead. Map the PDF file data to the file content field and set the channel name or user ID as the destination.
Message content
Include context in the Slack message: the document name, a link to the original Google Doc, the name of the person who triggered the conversion, and a brief description of what the file is. A well-crafted message saves the recipient from having to open the PDF to understand its purpose.
Choosing the right channel
Use Zapier's Formatter or Lookup Table to route PDFs to different channels based on the document name, folder, or other metadata. Client reports go to the client's channel, internal reports go to the team channel.
