Bulk Export Documents from Multiple Google Classroom Classes to PDF
Teachers with multiple classes need to export from several Classroom course folders. The Docs to PDF extension does not connect directly to the Classroom interface, but each course has its own folder in Google Drive. Run the bulk export on one course folder at a time and repeat for each course you teach.
Running exports course by course
In Google Drive, open the Classroom folder and navigate into the first course. Select the files you need, run the extension, and wait for the batch to complete. Then navigate to the next course folder and repeat. Each course runs as its own batch.
Organizing output by course
Create a local folder for each course before starting. For example 'Math 7 PDFs' and 'Science 8 PDFs'. After each batch, move the new PDFs into the corresponding folder. This keeps materials from different courses organized from the start.
Prioritizing which courses to export
If you teach five courses, you may not need to export all of them at the same time. Prioritize the courses where you need PDFs most urgently, whether for a parent meeting, a curriculum review, or end-of-year archiving.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I select files from multiple Classroom course folders at once?
No. Google Drive selection is limited to one folder at a time. Export each course folder in a separate batch.
Is there a way to automate multi-course exports?
Yes. Google Apps Script can iterate over multiple course folders and export each to PDF automatically. This requires writing a short script but removes the manual step of opening each folder.
