Export a Single Sheet Tab to PDF
Multi-tab Google Sheets can produce PDF exports that include content you do not want to share. If you need only one tab from each spreadsheet, you can either set print areas to cover just that tab or copy the tab to a new spreadsheet before running the bulk export. This keeps your PDFs focused and avoids sending irrelevant data.
Using print area to isolate a single tab
Open the spreadsheet and click the tab you want to export. Go to File > Print, then set the print range to 'Current sheet'. Save the spreadsheet, then run the Docs to PDF extension. The exported PDF will include only that tab's content.
Copying tabs to new spreadsheets for clean exports
Right-click the tab you want and select 'Copy to > New spreadsheet'. Google creates a new spreadsheet containing only that tab. Repeat for each file, collect the new spreadsheets in a folder, and run the bulk export on those. This approach is more work upfront but gives you reliable single-tab PDFs.
Naming the output files
Each PDF takes the name of the source spreadsheet, not the tab name. If you copy tabs to new spreadsheets, name those new files to reflect the tab content. For example, 'Q1 Budget - Summary Tab' makes the resulting PDF easy to identify.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the extension export only the active tab automatically?
The extension uses Google's standard export settings for each file. Set the print range to 'Current sheet' in File > Print before running the export to target the active tab.
Does this work for sheets with many tabs?
Yes. Set the print area on the specific tab you want before exporting. The other tabs will not appear in the PDF.
