Print an Entire Google Drive Folder

Printing an entire Google Drive folder means converting every compatible document to PDF and sending them all to your printer in one operation. The Docs to PDF extension makes this straightforward: open the folder, select all files, convert, and print. Whether the folder has 5 files or 50, the process is the same number of steps.

1

Selecting everything in a folder

Open the folder in Google Drive. Press Ctrl+A (Windows) or Cmd+A (Mac) to select all files in the current view. Click the Docs to PDF extension icon. The extension identifies Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides in your selection and converts each one to PDF. Other file types are skipped without errors. The resulting PDFs download to your computer automatically.

2

What to expect with a full folder

When you convert an entire folder, you get one PDF per compatible file, each named after the original. A folder with 10 documents produces 10 PDFs. The batch runs in sequence, so it takes more time than a single file. For a typical folder of 20 Google Docs, expect the conversion to take 3 to 5 minutes depending on file sizes.

3

Printing the entire folder batch

After conversion, go to your downloads folder. Select all the new PDFs, which appear at the top sorted by date modified. On Windows, right-click and choose Print. On Mac, select all in Finder and use File > Print, or open them in Preview for more control. Your printer processes all files in sequence.

4

Subfolders require separate operations

The extension converts files in the folder view you have open. It does not automatically recurse into subfolders. If your Drive folder has subfolders inside it, open each subfolder separately and repeat the process. For large folder trees with many subfolders, this requires a few additional steps but keeps the output organized.

5

Archiving vs printing

The PDFs you create for printing are also useful for archiving. Once a project is complete, batch-converting the project folder to PDF gives you a permanent, fixed-layout record of every document at that point in time. Store the PDFs in a local folder or back them up to another service. The originals in Drive can be archived or deleted without losing the PDF copies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I print an entire Google Drive folder at once?

Yes. Open the folder, press Ctrl+A or Cmd+A, run the Docs to PDF extension to convert everything to PDF, and then print all the PDFs together.

Does the extension convert all file types in a folder?

It converts Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Uploaded files not in Google format, such as Word documents, Excel files, images, or existing PDFs, are skipped.

How long does it take to print an entire folder?

Conversion time depends on the number and size of files. A typical folder of 20 Docs takes 3 to 5 minutes to convert. Printing time depends on your printer's speed.

Can I print an entire shared Drive folder?

Yes. You need Viewer access or higher to each file. The process is the same as a personal folder.

What if I only want to print some files in a folder, not all?

Instead of Ctrl+A, use Ctrl+click or Cmd+click to select only the specific files you want. The extension converts only what you have selected.
