One-Click Google Docs to PDF Conversion

After installing the Docs to PDF extension, you get an icon in your Chrome toolbar. Click it while a Google Doc is open in the current tab and the export starts immediately. The extension reads the document ID from the URL, calls Google's export API using your credentials, and downloads the resulting PDF. From click to download typically takes under five seconds for a standard-length document.

One-click conversion works in two places. From the Docs editor, click the extension icon while the document is open. From Google Drive, select the file by clicking its checkbox and then click the extension icon. The second method means you never need to open the document to convert it, which is useful for batches and for files you do not need to view.

The built-in export route requires five interactions: File menu, hover over Download, select PDF, wait for the browser's save dialog, choose a location. That is between five and seven clicks depending on your browser configuration. The extension collapses all of that to one click. For daily users who export regularly, this adds up to meaningful time saved.

Because the extension uses the document's existing settings, there is no formatting configuration dialog between clicking and downloading. The margins, orientation, fonts, and layout you set in the document are used automatically. This is different from using File > Print to save as PDF, which sometimes prompts for additional settings.

Select multiple Google Docs in Drive using Ctrl+click or Cmd+click and then click the extension icon once. The extension converts each selected file and downloads a separate PDF for each. One click handles the entire batch.
