Convert Google Docs Shared with Me to PDF

The Shared with Me view in Google Drive holds every document a colleague or collaborator has given you access to. Converting a document shared with you works exactly like converting one of your own, as long as the sharing permissions allow downloads.

Accessing Shared with Me

Shared with Me documents appear in the left sidebar of Google Drive under 'Shared with me'. Click that section to see all documents others have shared. You can sort by most recently shared, name, or last modified to find what you need.

Permission requirements for export

From the Shared with Me view, the document must allow viewer downloads. Most standard sharing configurations permit this. If the file owner has selected 'Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers', the extension will report a failed export for that document.

Converting multiple shared documents

Select multiple documents in the Shared with Me view using Ctrl+click or Cmd+click. Click the extension icon to convert all of them at once. Documents that fail due to permissions are reported separately so you know which ones to follow up on with the file owner.
