Convert Multiple Google Docs into One PDF
Sometimes you want one PDF, not twenty. The merge feature in the Docs to PDF extension lets you select multiple Google Docs and combine them into a single PDF in the order you choose. This is useful for assembling reports, compiling course materials, or creating document packages for clients.
Merge vs bulk export
Bulk export creates one PDF per document. Merge combines all selected documents into a single PDF file. Use bulk export when the recipient needs separate files. Use merge when they need everything in one place.
Controlling the order
The merged PDF follows the order in which you selected the documents. In Google Drive list view, select documents from top to bottom in the order you want them to appear. If you need a different order, rename the files with a number prefix like 01-, 02-, 03- and sort by name before selecting.
Page numbering in the merged PDF
Page numbers in the merged document are continuous. If the first document has five pages and the second has three pages, the merged PDF has eight pages numbered 1 through 8. Each document's internal page numbers from the Google Doc are not preserved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I rearrange pages after merging?
Not within the extension. To reorder pages, open the merged PDF in Adobe Acrobat or a free tool like PDF24 and rearrange the pages there.
Is there a limit on how many documents I can merge?
There is no specific merge limit. Very large merges of many long documents may take a few minutes to complete.
