Bulk Convert Google Docs to PDF
When you need to convert a handful of Google Docs to PDF, the manual route through File > Download works fine. When you have twenty documents, or fifty, it becomes tedious fast. This guide covers the fastest ways to bulk convert Google Docs to PDF, including how to select multiple files, how to handle shared documents, and what to do when you want all the PDFs in a specific folder.
Select multiple Google Docs in Drive
Open Google Drive and switch to list view for easier selection. Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and click each document you want to convert. If all the documents are in the same folder, you can press Ctrl+A or Cmd+A to select everything in view. Once your selection is ready, click the Docs to PDF extension icon in your Chrome toolbar. The extension detects the selected files and begins exporting them one by one.
What happens during bulk conversion
The extension sends each selected document to Google's export API using your existing Drive access. There is no upload to a third-party service. Google generates the PDF on its own servers and the extension downloads it to your computer. Because every file goes through the same pipeline as a manual export, the output quality is identical. The process runs in the background, so you can keep working while documents download.
Naming and organizing your PDFs
Each downloaded PDF takes the name of the original Google Doc. If you have a document called 'Q1 Report 2026', the PDF will be 'Q1 Report 2026.pdf'. Chrome saves all files to your default downloads folder unless you have changed it in settings. After the batch finishes, move the files into your target folder or use Chrome's download manager to open the folder directly.
Working with shared and team drive documents
Bulk conversion works on any Google Doc you can open, including documents shared with you and files inside shared drives. You need at least Viewer access. If a document requires you to request access, the extension will skip it and report a failed export for that file. Documents in shared drives follow the same process as personal Drive files.
Formatting and image quality
Google Docs bulk exports use the same rendering engine as single exports. Tables, inline images, headers and footers, custom fonts, and page breaks all come through correctly. If a document uses a font that is not embedded, the PDF substitutes the closest available font, which is the same behavior you would see in a manual export. There is no additional quality loss from converting multiple files at once.

Read guide →Frequently Asked Questions
How many Google Docs can I convert at once?
You can select as many as you need. The extension processes them in sequence. The free plan has a monthly conversion limit. The Pro plan removes that limit.
Can I bulk convert Google Docs into one combined PDF?
Yes. Use the merge feature instead of bulk export. Merge combines multiple documents into a single PDF in the order you select them. Bulk export creates a separate PDF for each document.
Why did some documents fail to convert?
A document fails to convert if you do not have export permission, if the document is in a format the extension does not support, or if the Google API returns an error. The extension shows a count of failed exports after the batch completes.
Does bulk conversion work on Google Docs in subfolders?
The extension converts the files you have selected. It does not automatically recurse into subfolders. To convert files in a subfolder, open that folder first, select the files you want, and then run the extension.
Can I convert Google Docs to PDF without downloading them one by one?
Yes, that is exactly what bulk conversion does. You select multiple documents and the extension downloads all the PDFs in sequence without any manual steps between them.
