Export Google Slides as PDF
Exporting a Google Slides presentation as PDF gives you a shareable, printable version that opens without PowerPoint or a Google account. The Docs to PDF extension triggers the export in one click, with control over whether notes are included, how many slides appear per page, and whether the PDF is optimized for printing or screen viewing.
Standard vs. handout exports
A standard PDF export from Google Slides places one slide per page. This is ideal for digital distribution where each slide should be full-sized and readable. A handout export places multiple slides per page, useful for printing. Google Slides supports 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 9 slides per page in handout layouts. The Docs to PDF extension uses whatever print settings are active in the file.
Including speaker notes
Speaker notes are not included in the default PDF export. To include them, use the print settings in Google Slides to select a notes view before triggering the export. Notes appear below each slide in the PDF and are useful for presenter handouts or training materials.
Animation and transitions
Slide animations and transitions do not carry over to PDF. Each slide exports as a static image showing the final state of the slide after all animations would have run. If a build animation reveals text or elements one at a time, all elements appear in the final-state position in the PDF.
Slide size and orientation
Google Slides defaults to widescreen 16:9. The exported PDF reflects the slide dimensions set in File > Page Setup. A standard 16:9 presentation exports as landscape pages. If you need a different size or orientation, change it in the slide settings before exporting.
Exporting from Drive vs. inside the presentation
Exporting from inside the open presentation applies any active print settings. Exporting from Google Drive without opening uses the default settings saved in the file. For presentations where layout settings matter, open the file first and confirm the settings before triggering the export.
